Our story

A sweet shop window. Nearly three decades on.

Nujood opened nearly three decades ago as a small confectionery window opposite the Al Satwa Big Mosque — pyramids of fresh barfi and bubbling jalebi on display for the neighbourhood. Run by the Ahmad family, including owner Naveed Ahmad, that single window grew into the two-shop setup you'll find today.

One side is a full Pakistani kitchen — karahi, BBQ, biryani, tandoori naan, plus the keema samosas and slow-cooked mutton haleem regulars order by name, especially during Ramadan. The other is the original sweets counter — barfi, qalaqand, laddoos, jalebi, and cold favourites like kulfi falooda and ras malai.

Best Samosas I had so far

"It's a very small, tiny shop. The staff is friendly and I truly enjoyed the best Samosas in my life so far. Together with a karak they were dreamlike. I will be back for sure."

Best samosas in town

"Best samosas in town, great value for money and excellent service. Not really a sit-down place so best to call ahead and order."

Little Sweet Shop in Satwa

"The milk sweet/barfi was good, not too sweet. Apparently the jalebis are popular with the locals. Great chilled desserts too — kulfi, falooda, ras malai."
